JBL Fantasy Review – Day 95

In our first Fantasy Review article, we reviewed how the JBL Rank Top 50 were performing on Day 51. In today’s installment we will pay tribute to the recently announced All-Star selections by creating Fantasy All-Star teams based on JBL experience.

The teams will be constructed as follows:

• (2) Guards, (3) Forwards/Centers and (1) 6th Man
• Players will be selected in order of their Average Fantasy Points per Game (FPGa) across the two readily available services for the JBL.

For those readers in need of a quick refresh on the two scoring methods this is how they are calculated.

Team 1: Rookies and Sophomores

Backcourt #1: Keyon Barber (PG, Predators, Exp: 1) – 39.55
Backcourt #2: Jordan Timberlake (SG/PG, Stars, Exp: 1) – 37.85
Frontcourt #1: Josiah Robinson (SF/PF, Mustangs, Exp: 0) – 45.25
Frontcourt #2: Zion Jefferies (PF, Rockets, Exp: 1) – 39.85
Frontcourt #3: Jarell Harrison (PF/C, Lightning, Exp: 1) – 39.55
6th Man: Colin Webster (C, Blizzards, Exp: 0) – 37.75

Total Team Points: 239.8

The top 6 Fantasy scorers from this age group all make it onto the squad as they are led by JBL All-Star, Josiah Robinson. The Messiah ranks 15th overall in FPGa and 3rd amongst all Small Forwards in the JBL. The near miss in this group was last season’s ROY, Juwan Hughes.

Team 2: JBL Experience: 2-3 Years

Backcourt #1: Devon Harrell (PG, Crusaders, Exp: 3) – 52.2
Backcourt #2: Josh Gamble (PG, Cyclones, Exp: 3) – 48.85
Frontcourt #1: Donovan Galloway (C/PF, Blizzards, Exp: 3) – 47.6
Frontcourt #2: Jarvis McSwine (PF/SF, Lumberjacks, Exp: 3) – 43.3
Frontcourt #3: Quavius Williamson (PF/C, Huskies, Exp: 3) – 41.95
6th Man: Detrez Owens (SG, Kings, Exp: 3) – 40.25

Total Team Points: 274.15

What a difference a year makes as no player in their 3rd JBL season is able to crack this squad. Deleon Slay was closest sporting the 8th highest FPGa amongst this peer group. This group features four 2024 JBL All-Stars and is led by Devon Harrell who many consider to be the pre-immanent Point Guard in the league today.

Team 3: JBL Experience: 4-5 Years

Backcourt #1: Jamaal Adams (PG/SG, Jaguars, Exp: 4) – 38.85
Backcourt #2: Vionte Houston (SG, Huskies, Exp: 4) – 38.75
Frontcourt #1: Alonzo Weaver (SF, Warriors, Exp: 4) – 57.5
Frontcourt #2: James Spencer (C/PF, Fireballs, Exp: 5) – 41.65
Frontcourt #3: Darius Barry (SF, Huskies, Exp: 5) – 40
6th Man: Richmond Benson (PF, Kings, Exp: 4) – 39.3

Total Team Points: 256.05

Three 2024 JBL All-Stars in this group led by the #1 Fantasy player in the JBL, Alonzo Weaver. James Spencer is enjoying his best season as a pro to date and is the #2 fantasy point getter in this age group while Benson and Adams may both use this as fuel to add to their arguments about being snubbed for the ASG in Denver.

Team 4: JBL Experience: 6-8 Years

Backcourt #1: Chris LaCruz (PG, Fireballs, Exp: 7) – 54.4
Backcourt #2: Antoine Peeler (SG, Lumberjacks, Exp: 8) – 42.3
Frontcourt #1: Taquan Slattery (PF, Devils, Exp: 7) – 51.35
Frontcourt #2: Ainsley Tucker (PF, Thunder, Exp: 6) – 43.1
Frontcourt #3: Derrick Griffin (SF, Scorpions, Exp: 6) – 41.2
6th Man: Rasheem Fisher (PG, Vultures, Exp: 6) - 42

Total Team Points: 274.35

Another team which features four 2024 JBL All-Stars is also the only team to have two players who rank in the top five in FPGa with LaCruz (#3 overall) and Slattery (#5 overall). The rest of the team are no slouches either as they rank between #20-27.

Team 5: JBL Experience: 9-10 Years

Backcourt #1: Andre Phifer (SG/SF, Thunder, Exp: 9) – 47.1
Backcourt #2: Jevon Novak (PG, Dragons, Exp: 9) – 43.4
Frontcourt #1: Kelvin Hawes (C/PF, Knights, Exp: 10) – 54.6
Frontcourt #2: Drayton Banks (PF, Vultures, Exp: 9) – 48.15
Frontcourt #3: Kelvin Black (C, Cyclones, Exp: 9) - 47
6th Man: Marcus Ivory (PF/C, Tritons, Exp: 10) – 43.05

Total Team Points: 283.3

Everyone in this group is a 2024 JBL All-Star with three being named to the starting lineup. This squad also features two of the top 10 FPGa players in the league and 5 of the top 20 with only Ivory missing the cut at #21.

Team 6: JBL Experience: 11+ Years

Backcourt #1: Jason Chaeney (SG/PG, Jailbirds, Exp: 12) – 47.7
Backcourt #2: Tyson Kuberka (PG, Colonels, Exp: 14) - 41
Frontcourt #1: Dontay Sowder (SF, Thunder, Exp: 14) – 51.2
Frontcourt #2: Omar Grant (C/PF, Scorpions, Exp: 12) – 48.25
Frontcourt #3: Dameon Clarke (PF, Hurricanes, Exp: 11) – 46.6
6th Man: Tezale Craig (SF, Skyhawks, Exp: 13) – 45.15

Total Team Points: 279.9

The final group features four 2024 JBL All-Stars led by sure fire future Hall of Famer, Dontay Sowder (#6 overall). This also marks the first group where a player missed out on recognition as Reggie Fortier is a better fantasy contributor (43.4 FPGa) than Kuberka; however, we need a 2nd backcourt player which forced Reggie out.
