RKG's 12 Prospects of Christmas: Sr. PG Wendell Burton (Arizona)

  • By Michael Miller, Day 1, 2024

The grass may not always greener, as Sr. PG Wendell Burton (Arizona) can attest to. After leading all CJBL point guards in PER efficiency rating during his sophomore season with Florida International (20.9 points per game), Burton transferred to Arizona in hopes that he could parlay a bigger program into more national attention.

Unfortunately for Burton, however, Arizona did not stop recruiting talented point guards and, consequently, Burton was buried on the bench. He did not start any games for Arizona, and averaged only 7.9 minutes per game and 11.9 minutes per game during his junior and senior years respectively.

Scouts suggest, however, that Burton may be a diamond in the rough based on his offensive potential and ability. Just do not expect him to play defense, for the love of your team's defensive efficiency rating.
