Fireballs Sent TJ Holloway to Detroit

  • By Jron Magcale, Day 120, 2023

LOS ANGELES - "One of the hardest decision for me is to trade TJ (Holloway), but we needed to in order for us to fix our cap issues. He has been a pro at every level here in L.A. and wishes him well in Detroit." GM Jron said in his trade announcement presser.

The deal is as follows:

PG TJ Holloway $4.3M/2

PG Tex Ireland $2M/1
2024 2nd Round Pick (Skyhawks)

The deal will put the Fireballs under the $95M threshold and won't get additional penalties significant to their future moves. Tex Ireland who was undrafted on 2015 out of USC has been a decent backup PG. He is enjoying a good season at 28 years old, starting 35 games and averaging 8.6 ppg and 7.4 apg. TJ Holloway hasn't had much playing time behind Chris LaCruz only playing 8.4 mpg and averaging 3.6 ppg and 2.1 apg but at just 21 years old and a unique skillset of playmaking and outside shooting he may develop as a decent playmaking outside threat given the opportunity.
