Miami Cyclones Trade Robertson

MIAMI - The Miami Cyclones today announced that they traded allstar point guard Mark Robertson and backup point guard Tyrone Macklin to the Las Vegas Scorpions in exchange for point guard Lucious Barclay, swingman Lorenzo Charles, and the Scorpions 2023 2nd round draft choice.

Cyclones General Manager Logan Laser said it was hard to say goodby to Mrob because he meant so much to the team since being the first player selected in the 2005 draft.

Laser said that the Cyclones wanted to be competing for championships in the future and not for a final playoff spot. Barclay is 10 years younger than Robertson and is expected to be the starting point guard now and for many years.

Laser said "I looked at our record and Mrob's age along with the fact that he is considering retirement at the end of the season and felt that we could not afford to pass up a deal that will help secure the future of the Cyclones. Barclay is the key but we also see a lot of potential in Lorenzo Charles, and the 2023 draft choice gives us flexibility.

Laser refused to comment on the rumor that the Cyclones are not done trading and that Rickey Douglas can be had for the right offer.
