Lumberjacks Land All-Star

  • By Tim Wallis, Day 105, 2023

PORTLAND - The Lumberjacks have today pulled the trigger on a trade that sees off-season free agency target Antoine Peeler land in Portland. Leaving the Jacks will be consolation signing Demetric Vaughn, backup forward Reggie Burke, the 2024 picks of the Bullets and Hurricanes and Portland's pick in 2026.

"Both Demetric and Reggie have performed very well for us this year," announced GM Tim Wallis. "But Reggie had already expressed his desire to see more court time, while Demetric is 35 and on a one year deal. We're fortunate to have been given the opportunity to bring in an All-JBL quality player who can be a key figure for the organization for many years to come."

Peeler has been unsettled in Oakland since re-signing this past off-season and has seen his numbers drop quite dramatically from last year's All-JBL season. A rocky relationship with new teammate Kai Navigato may have contributed to his exit from Oakland, but he will be welcomed with open arms to Portland after briefly considering the move as a free agent just a few months ago.
