Fireballs Bench Helps Close Out Rockets

LOS ANGELES - The Fireballs only have 1 game this sim, defending their homecourt despite stars Chris LaCruz (4 fouls, 31 minutes) and Devan Carroll (4 foul, 29 minutes) wasn't able to play their normal minutes because of foul trouble but the bench helped out scoring 43 points lead by Akua Frazier and Stoyanov Vitas double-doubles off the bench, Frazier recorded 14 points and 13 rebounds (6 off rebs, 7 def rebs) and Vitas having 12 points and 14 rebounds. The game seems to be a close fight from the start as the Rockets wasn't that far behind after 2 quarters 59-50, it was the 3rd quarter when the Fireballs played solid defense limiting the Rockets to 17 points and blasting with 29 points. The 3 point shooting of the Fireballs was one of the factors as LA connected with 15/36 in that area compared to 10/33 from the Rockets. The Fireballs ball movement was on point as they dished 38 assists while the Rockets managed with 22, the rebounding numbers was also won by the Fireballs 65-42. Points in the paint also was the Fireballs advantage 42-28.

Despite playing under his normal minutes, Chris LaCruz managed to score 19 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and a steal. The Fireballs was lead by Reggie Coleman with 20 points (7/15 FG, 4/8 3FG), 7 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Devan Carroll managed to score 11 points and then added 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and a block. Derrick Aririguzoh and Jamal Wilkinson both scored 9 points as well. The Rockets was lead by Quinton Rice's 26 points and only Zion Jefferies scored in double figures for the starting lineup notching a double-double in the process 13 points and 16 rebounds with 6 assists and 3 steals and 3 blocks.

"I think it is important for us to win our home games. We kind of struggled starting the season but now we're picking it up. Akua and Stoyanov was great for us when their names were called. Chris (LaCruz) and Devan (Carroll) was in foul trouble early and I'm just glad everybody else picked it up. Good win for us coming into a difficult part of our schedule." Assistant Coach Alton Wilkes said after the win.


The Fireballs will play 2 home games against 2 top teams as they will host division rival Scorpions (34-17) on Day 102 and then host Eastern conference powerhouse Warriors (38-11) on Day 104.
