LOS ANGELES - No surprises as the Los Angeles Fireballs brass has officially sent Franchise Player Chris LaCruz' camp a contract extension sheet with the max eligible for his status reportedly around $72M/3 Years ($24M/year + bonus and incentives), this comes a few days after the Fireballs traded iMac to Detroit in a move to reduce cap to avoid further penalties, this is the 3rd front office move of the Fireballs as before the contract extension offer was officially sent, the team reportedly traded defensive backup wing Lorenzo Charles for 2 2nd rounders. The report came after league sources confirms that Las Vegas Scorpions' own franchise player Lamar Francis has inked a similar deal ($72/3 years, $24M/year + bonus and incentives).

Chris LaCruz last signed a contract extention with the Fireballs 2 seasons ago and it will end this season which was at $40M/2 Years. The Juice is playing on his 5th season as a Fireball after being acquired on a trade with Nashville Stars on the offseason of 2019. LaCruz is having a great season averaging career high in point 29.1 ppg (50% FG, 35% 3FG, 80% FT) while also leading his team in assists 8.9 apg grabbing 6 rpg and adding 0.5 on spg and bpg. Earlier this season, LaCruz entered the history books by scoring career high of 62 points while also recording a triple-double against the Thunder. The 6'6" Point God has been the best point guard in the league for a while now, being ranked #5 in the JBL Rank Top 50 2 years in a row. He has made the All-Star 3 straight seasons before failing to make it last season and also was named All-JBL 1st team 3 straight seasons and All-JBL 2nd team last season as well.

He is off to a good start but the Fireballs being a brand new team coming and is just under .500 with 11-12 card. Although they are finding their groove winning 4 of the last 5 games (stringing a 4-game winning streak before falling to the Scorpions last game). The Fireballs is hoping that LaCruz secures his future with the team as they build around him and pushes to be a more competitive team in the years to come.

"We already drafted the contract extension a few days before the official day we can offer Chris (LaCruz) but we have to make a small U-turn with our people about minor details for his contract extension and of course finalizing the trades as well that we did recently. But as of now, we have formally forwarded the contract extension to Chris and his team." GM Jron commented about the contract extension offer.
