CINCINNATI - The Kings today announced the signing of two players, PF Richmond Benson ($15M 4+1t) and PG Ashanti Brooks ($13.5M 1+1t). Benson was a second round draft pick in 2020 and has started the past two seasons at power forward for the Kings. Last year, Benson averaged 16.6 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.25 blocks in 30 minutes per game, and was the team’s most valuable player. Benson’s minutes restrictions were taken off in the playoffs, where he averaged 19 points (52% FG), 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 36 minutes per game. The contract will keep Benson in Cincinnati through his age 25 season.

Brooks was the backup point guard for the Warriors last season, becoming their starter in the middle of the Warriors’ playoff run. Through the regular season he had a 8.3 assist to turnover ratio. Brooks accepted a deal to come off the bench in Cincinnati, and he will compete in training camp with Tyson Ferguson, Eli Cutler, and Chris McMullen for understudy to Christian Vickery, with the potential to move into a starting role in 2024.
