Fireballs Traded for Super 6th Man Devan Carroll

  • By Jron Magcale, Day 1, 2023

LOS ANGELES - "What can I say, I want to compete and the opportunity was there and I grabbed it. I know where Seattle is coming from regarding why they wanted to move Devan (Carroll) and we are happy to work on that deal." GM Jron answered when asked about the most recent move the team has made.

Hours after finalizing a deal for flashy wing Jamal Wilkinson, the Fireballs have announced that they acquired another gem in Seattle Thunder Super 6th man Devan Carroll, who just recently filled in to an injured starting SF Aaron Rowland who missed the finals entirely. Carroll who won the 6th man of the year award last 2020, has been a vital part of the back to back champions Seattle Thunder, averaging 12.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.8 bpg, 1 spg coming off the bench for the Champions. His versatility and basketball IQ has been an asset, an underrated defender and a proven leader, the Fireballs will get immediate help from the forward spots.

"We welcome Devan to the Fireballs organization and we are looking forward to compete and develop as the season unfolds. Wild wild offseason, haven't seen much action since I first step into the league and we accept the challenge." GM Jron followed up.

With the acquisition of Devan Carroll and Jamal Wilkinson it is possible to see a similar small ball lineup that they started in 2019 and saw much success in 2020. Dubbed as #RunLA and Showtime Fireballs by the fans, it was widely popular back then, the acquisition of aging stars forced the Fireballs to slow their usual tempo and it did not bode well for their campaign in the last 2 seasons. Now, a new LA has been formed and will see the re-emergence of Showtime LA basketball. Billboards are already up #RunLA and #ShowtimeFireballs are around downtown LA. We'll see much more buzz as the offseason goes.

"I can't wait to heal up and ball with my boys, Jamal (Wilkinson) coming back to town and I heard Devan (Carroll) also is LA bound. We'll make a good run this year, for sure." Star PG LaCruz who is healing from his broken toe injury said when asked about the flurry of moves LA made.
