Los Angeles Acquired SG Wilkinson from Louisville

LOS ANGELES - "We are thrilled to get Jamal (Wilkinson) back to the fold. He was an essential part of the 2020 Finals team that lost to Nashville, it was no secret we tried to get him back but we couldn't based on our situation back then. So, having him back is a good sign for us. He knows the system and knows staff, the fans loves him here and we're happy to get him again." These are the words GM Jron has said during the press conference about the team's recent transaction.

Los Angeles Fireballs have traded for Jamal Wilkinson by sending a trio of youngsters headed by scoring wing Garrett Cue, pivot Evan Dupont and versatile wing J.P. Marquardt along with 2nd round picks for 2025 and 2027. This means that the SG position will be Wilkinson's and will be backed by Lorenzo Charles, the deal also gutted Fireballs of depth as Cue was a vital part of the rotation last season averaging 9.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1 spg on 21 mpg and 10 starts on 71 games, will surely be missed in Los Angeles. Dupont was limited13 mpg but played 80 games and averaged 6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1 apg and 0.9 bpg but the young center shows promise, J.P. Marquardt was acquired with a deal from Portland earlier this offseason but reports says that he has been in trade talks as soon as he landed in LA, a decent developing wing that can contribute if called upon.

"I have mixed feelings about sending out G-Cue and Dupont as those youngins have proved they can fit into our system but at the same time we wanted to be competitive this coming season, seeing that most teams are retooling for the 2023 season with a lot of deals flying. We thank both G-Cue and Evan (Dupont) for their service as a Fireball and wish them the best with their new team." GM Jron added.
