GM Kyle Kappe apologizes for not being more forthright

HOUSTON - GM Kyle Kappe apologized to the members of the media for not announcing the terms of the trade earlier. "I felt like it wasn't fair to Swayda to not get ahead of these rumors, but I also didn't want to jeopardize the terms of the trade.' Kappe explained. "There were a lot of moving parts and with the freeze on trades during the Free Agent period, We wanted to do right by everyone to ensure all parties felt respected. With two key FA's that needed to be signed, we wanted some cap flexibility to shore up the depth, while getting younger, and appeasing Big O." Kappe continued. "The first round pick will make up for the lack of one this past draft and enables our 2nd round pick, Derrick Poole, some minutes at the Two guard spot." Kappe finished adamantly by saying "The move had absolutely no bearing on Dontay Sowder's feelings on the roster makeup."
