Austin Continues Its Search for a PG of the Future

  • By Zach Podedworny, Day 1, 2023

AUSTIN - After trading star PG Rubin Wingfield before the 2023 draft in return for two 1st round picks, the Rockets have worked diligently on finding his replacement. The Rockets have PG Cassius Tyson on the roster from last year and drafted PGs Riley Robinson and Demarcus Jones. In this new development, the Rockets were able to land 2022 first round pick PG Jaleen Rifkind and 2022 2nd rounder SF Jacob Rogers. The PG position is open for competition in camp this offseason, but Rifkind has to come in as the favorite. GM ZPod4 had this to say about the trade, "Rifkind is an exciting player and we all look forward to seeing him in a Rockets uniform this upcoming season."

The Rockets have been trying to move Jamarcus Norwood's contract all offseason and were finally able to find a trade they felt comfortable with. The oldest player on the Rockets going into the 2023 season is currently SG/SF Xavier Turner at 23 years old.

Rockets send PF/C Jamarcus Norwood to the Blizzards for PG Jaleen Rifkind and SF Jacob Rogers.
