A New Era in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE - The Drones organization introduced their newest GM, David Gonzalez, this evening at a press event in downtown Charlotte.

As a franchise Charlotte has toiled in misery since the inception of the JBL. In 2003 ownership had to turn off the lights and close up shop after an extremely poor run of 5 seasons where the Drones never peaked past a .400 winning percentage.

The current ownership group which also owns the local NFL and MLS organizations decided it was time to bring the Drones back to life when the JBL announced plans to expand for the 2021 season. However, new team + new players has yet to provide the winning formula which is why ownership reached out and convinced Gonzalez to take on the challenge of leading the Drones moving forward.

Gonzalez was quoted as saying, "Today is a new day in Charlotte and it's time to move on from our past. It's time for this organization to deliver for all the fans who have been filling up Buzz City Arena and sporting their Drones gear on the streets of downtown. I can guarantee you we will provide a team this city can be proud of moving forward".
