Thunder Fire Taz Mills

SEATTLE -

Seattle Thunder have relieved Head Coach Taz Mills today of his duties with the team. Taz has been with the team since 2006 and had been the head coach for one year leading the team to a 31-25 record and just missing the playoffs.

“We want to thanks Taz for his time in Seattle”, said the Thunder’s General Manager Luke Forté. “Since his time here he has made very positive changes to the team and we have got some good results. He has had a big impact on the improvement of our team and the success that we’ve had over the last couple of years. Nonetheless, we must make some difficult decisions in our day-to-day operations of the club and this would certainly qualify as one of those examples. We wish Taz the best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions over his time here.”

GM Forte also had this to say.

“The executive team voted unanimously to part ways with Taz. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t done a great job. We hope that the fans can trust that we know what we are doing. After all we are acting, in what we think, is the best interest of the organisation. We want to improve, make the playoffs and win championships. We think with our new plan can do that.”

Rumors about Mills poor relationship with management were out there but no one knew how bad things had gotten and how much they affected the decision to let him go.

Forté had hinted at times of Mills icy relationship with the organisation but it is believed that they had ‘differs in opinions’ over how the team should move forward.

Time will tell who will take over the coaching job at Thunder. And what the results will be. But I’m told by Luke Forté that “the search starts immediately”.
