Damien Dukes Determined To Prove Doubters Wrong.

BOSTON - Boston Bulletin Sports Editor David Deeman sat down with the Crusader’s Damian Dukes recently to discuss his thoughts on Season 2021 and what he hopes to bring to the Squad in 2022.

Sitting down with Dukes, one thing is clear. He’s a man on a mission. He wants to prove the doubters wrong. Signed to the Crusaders on one of their biggest contracts many critics suggest he didn’t earn his keep in 2021. It’s widely been suggested that the Crusader’s GM regrets signing Dukes but Coach Jackson is a strong supporter and expects a big improvement from Dukes in 2022.

“He did everything asked of him,” said Jackson, “and we’ve put together a squad from scratch. There were some teething problems and close games that didn’t go our way in 2021 but we know our Squad has learned from this and we look forward to dramatic improvement this season, including from Dukes.”

“2021 was a learning year for all of us,” said Dukes, “and I really appreciate the faith Coach Jackson has placed in me to be part of this team going forward.

“I know there’s a lot of expectation in Boston, and that fans are excited to see the Franchise and expect fast results. I think they’ll be pleasantly surprised in 2022. We’ve got a strong core from last season and the Coaching Department has added some great depth for our Second season in the League.”

When asked about how he reacted to chatter about his contract and whether he had lived up to his potential Dukes was particularly circumspect. “I know the fans expect a lot,” said Dukes, “and I hope to give the fans what they expect in 2022.”

With their Squad finalised and no changes to their Coaching Staff the Crusaders are headed to their Training Camp soon. We’ll provide you with updates post Camp as we lead into the season.
