LA Confidential: Fireballs Completes Roster; Signed PF Jawon Tyndell
- By Jron Magcale, Day 1, 2025
LOS ANGELES - The Fireballs have round up their roster to 15 players with the signing of undersized PF Jawon Tyndell to the minimum contract of $1M/1 year deal. The 6'7", 243 lbs frontcourt banger agreed to sign with LA on Day 15 of Free Agency. The former Tar Heel who was drafted by the Crusaders in the 2nd round of the 2022 draft (31st overall), never started with Boston and has played a total of 61 games in 2 seasons, he had an injury riddled 2023 campaign that saw him suiting up only twice. He averaged 5.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1 apg and 1.1 bpg in his rookie campaign where he saw 59 games on 16.4 mpg. The Fireballs who already have an undersized 4 in Anthony Egekeze will add a similar player in Tyndell who gets boards and defends the post regardless of his size. The Fireballs who loves enforcers to play with their offensive threats will get a younger version of Egekeze in Tyndell.
"We wanted to sign someone that can play a role when his name is called upon and based on our scouts, Jawon (Tyndell) is an excellent rebounder and even when he was in college. We'll see how he pans out in training camp. He is young and we can definitely see him have a role with us. It's a matter if he can fit in the system we have here but we are hopeful that he'd develop well." Coach Alton Wilkes said about Tyndell's signing. The Fireballs now had 15 players in the roster and training camp will determine who will be sent to the J-League and who will be part of the rotation.
