Wells Out as Mustangs Head Coach

  • By Joel Steelman, Day 1, 2025

DETROIT - Given the likelihood that Jason Rose will be leaving to pursue a head coaching job, the Mustangs front office has decided to shake up their coaching staff to better fit their desired philosophies. The Mustangs have informed Thorton Wells that his services are no longer needed.

Wells’ tenure at the mustangs was for 2 years, where he had a record of 57-107. Though he did increase his wins by 11 over the last season, his philosophies no longer fit with the team going forward.

The Mustangs will begin holding interviews immediately for his replacement. While Rose is in consideration for HC, we are holding true to EOE and holding open interviews with other candidates.

We wish Wells well in the future and thank him for his contributions.
